    Dragonsbane Empty Dragonsbane

    Post by Gelatino95 Sun May 08, 2011 4:05 pm

    Move name: Dragonsbane

    Type: Ice

Category: Status move (neither physical nor special)

Effect: Throws levitating icicles to the opponent's side of the battlefield. Hurts any pokemon that enters battle. Damage is calculated by Pokemon's weakness to Ice:

    4x Resist ice: 1/32
    2x Resist ice: 1/16
    Neutral to ice: 1/8
    2x Weak to ice: 1/4
    4x Weak to ice: 1/2

Fractions represent part of pokemon's total health.

Additional notes: Very few pokemon will learn this move due to its profound effect on Dragon types. Got the idea from Smogon.

Hmm. I don't see why we should create a move to cripple Dragon types when they're meant to be powerful (and rare, meaning we most likely won't have many).

I disagree with Ferrety. However, I think only one or two Poke'mon should be able to learn this, and learn it at a high level like 60 or maybe even 80.

EDIT: I'm not sure if this is the best type choice, Kingdra is resistant to ice...

I personally like this move. It will force people to keep a rapid spinner on an OU team with Dragons. But chances are, this game won't become competitive due to the inability to battle with other people. So it will just become an annoyance when you're fighting NPCs or may be helpful when fighting a Dragon type Elite Four (and yes, I do plan on having one)

But never fear, I'm planning for this move to have very low distribution to pretty bad pokemon. And just as an added note, the name Dragonsbane was not my idea, it was Smogon's. But it's still pretty clever.

So it's Ice-type Stealth Rock, pretty much? considering there aren't many dragons in the game, a point you made yourself, what is the point of having something designed to counter it?

People already carry ice moves on their pokemon to counter dragons (in competitive, anyway) so people have already found ways to counter dragons. Besides, this move may help balance out the metagame by forcing people to not rely on dragons such as Hydreigon, Haxorus, and Latios. Besides, this move isn't meant for competitive pokemon. It's not like we can implement these moves into battles with other people.

There isn't a metagame. Totally one player, no online capabilities.

That's very true. Still, I think this would be a cool move.

But, it must be nmed Dragonsbane? Why not to put it other name? It sounds too specific. Something like Glaciar or Iceberg.

I agree with this. Call it Flash Freeze or Stealth Ice or something. Lame names, I Know.
