    Poke balls Empty Poke balls

    Post by Just_Testing Tue Aug 02, 2011 1:46 pm

Okay, so, in addition to the Balls (teehee) we have already, any new types? I'm perfectly happy to make a sprite.

    So we have:

    Poke balls Balls
    Poke balls Balls2-1
    Poke balls Novaball

Anyone got any extra ideas? Just write down what it does, and I'll make a sprite of it, like these ones.

    EDIT:
Added first set of custom balls.
    EDIT 2:
Changed Veno Ball on account of it look too much like a Master Ball.
    EDIT 3:
Added Nova Ball, a ball that has an increased chance of capture if you do not already have the Pokemon.

Maybe we should have some types of balls that work better on different types of pokemon, like the Net ball except a smaller catch rate and more exclusive to different types.

    Bug - Hex ball
    Dark - Night ball
    Dragon - Draco ball
    Electric - Volt ball
    Fighting -
    Fire - Flare ball
    Flying -
    Ghost - Necro ball
    Grass - Seed ball
    Ground - Earth ball
    Ice - Cryo ball
    Normal -
    Poison - Veno ball
    Psychic - Mental ball
    Rock - Ore ball
    Steel - Ferro ball
    Water - Hydro ball

Couldn't think of a name for some of them, so I left them blank.

Nice, should give me lots of material. Maybe:
    Fighting- Fist Ball?
    Flying- Feather/Wing Ball?
    Normal- Blank Ball?

Fist ball and Feather ball work, but maybe there just shouldn't be one for normal types.

Hex means a sort of curse or spell, so I don't think it works for bugs. I know where you got it from though. Uhh... Compound Ball?

    EDIT:
If it's okay with you, I'm gonna call the Flare Ball a Magma Ball because of how it looks.

Hex ball is because insects have six legs, and they belong to the subphylum Hexapoda.

I'm going to rename the Flare and Seed Balls to Magma and Vine, due to how they look.

Two of the balls are unessesary. We already have the net ball, which works for water & bugs types. So the hydro & hex balls are outclassed. The cherish ball is obtainable only by hacking, & works the same as a pokeball so no need to include it. Also, I know the poison ball uses the base of a great one, but it still looks to much like the master ball.

The Hex and Hydro Ball Work the same as the Net Ball for their specific types, but they are cheaper. I think these balls should be 50-75 Pokedollars each. And okay, I'll change the Veno Ball.

Can you make a Pokéball that increases the capture rate if you haven't captured that Pokémon yet? Name it 'Nova Ball'

No, that would defeat the point of the poke balls, since most of the time, people are using poke balls on pokemon that they haven't caught yet.

But status conditions already raise the catch rate of pokemon. Poison, burn, and paralysis raise the catch rate by 1.5x while sleep and freeze raise it by 2x.

Only balls for confusion, attract, curse, & Trapped (Bind, mean look, etc), are necessary.

Confusion is the only really common status condition that applies, in that case. Attraction could work too. If we do make a Curse variant, it should drastically increase the catch rate, maybe 3.5x (equivalent of a Dusk Ball) since Curse is a rare status condition and it's hard to use effectively.

Maybe only buyable from a single person at a high price? Or they need certaing items to manufacture, like the Apricorn Balls in HGSS?

Most balls balls that needs specail conditions to be met, increase the catch rate by 4, not 3.5.

Dive ball is 3.5, Dusk ball is 3.5, Lure ball is 3, and Net ball is 3. In other words, all poke balls have differing catch rates depending on the difficulty of finding a pokemon under those certain conditions.

Maybe the attract ball can be pink, and the curse ball can be black or dark purple? I think those colors would fit the themes better.
