Town names

Let's come up with some names for the towns in the region. Here's the map, with each town and location numbered:



Here's a list of names. I'll update it as we come up with more name ideas.

It's a desert, not a savanna. As for "Spottedshroom", that's a bit too long and uncreative, and our town has absolutely nothing to do with mushrooms as far as I know. Often, towns use names inspired by plants or trees. And also, sixteen isn't a town. It's blue, indicating it's a different kind of location. I always imagine it being a large limestone formation on the ocean with intricate caves carved out inside.

Remember that numbers two and ten are supposed to be big cities, so name them appropriately.

Most regions have at least some kind of theme naming with their cities. May I suggest foreign words? Medina Town just sounds so perfect.

Sacapuntas Town. Or Pueblo Town. Or Menschen Town. I don't know.

Sacapuntas means pencil sharpener. We've been over this already. I would be embarrassed to have a town named like that. Pueblo could work well, maybe it could be one or five?

I know that Sacapuntas means pencil sharpener. My mother language is Spanish. But some of us thought that it was a good name. And remember what you said, Gelo.

Those are the names I came up with... well most of them... I know you won't like them all but hope that you like some!

Yeah... originally I was going to name it Mycellium Town, but I knew no one would know what it was.

And I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be a Savannah. It's near a Desert and also near a Grassland, so I think it'd be logical to make it a Savannah.

Also, I agree, we should have the names come from foreign language. As for Sacapuntas, hardly anybody's gonna know it means Pencil Sharpener. If it can't be a city, at least let it be a Factory or something.

Added everyone's suggestions to the OP. Also added my own suggestions. When coming up with names, remember that we need a Victory Road and Pokemon League. I was thinking 13 and 14 respectively.

1 Erste Town (I'm not a huge fan of this, but it's the best I could find. Erste = first in German. It's the nicest-sounding German word I've ever seen.)

8 Eitur Town (Eitur = Icelandic for Poison. Note that this assumes the legendary is up the mountain.)
9 Venenum Mons (Venenum Mons = Latin for Poisonous Mountain. Note that this assumes this is where the legendary is. If it's not, my suggestion is Aetheris Mons.)

Well. Maybe Amanecer Town? For the first town? Where you start. It means Dawn Town.

I think ferrety took the forein languaging too much... I love arabic and I think litteraly, arabic is the best language... But let's face it in terms of fluency it is one of the most difficult languages in the world... It doesn't fit to name things like pokemon... I imagine arabic pokemon names... it just don't work.

Thats why english is worldwide... it's easy, it's simple and very organized... You can easily combine words and the prononciation is so fluent!

So after all that blablabla... Not every language in the world have the proper tools to be a good naming laguage... Like german, it's so difficult it's like the smallest word has 10 letters in it! crazy! So I think we should stick to english and maybe spanish, french, italic as maximum!

I guess I could have taken the foreign naming a bit too far, but from my I really do like Marais Marsh and Venenum Mons. And I agree German is just too long.

I liked those too... French is such a classy language!

I can agree completely there. French is great and Latin sounds dramatic (though I don't really know any Latin).

I really like these names, but I really agree with gelo that it would be weird to have a town named after a pencil sharpener.

You mean Nimbostratus? They're different things, "Nimbostratus" doesn't mean "rain", it means "raining stratus cloud". For example, "Gorgo Town", Gorgo meaning "Gorgon", would be the same thing as "Gorgosaurus Town", Gorgosaurus meaning "Gorgon Lizard", while the latter (Gorgosaurus) is named after the former (Gorgo), the towns are based of different things as one is named after the Gorgon, a creature from Greek mythology, while the other is named after Gorgosaurus, a dinosaur.

My point is, "Nimbus" means rain, not "Nimbostratus".
