Well, every gen has one. Gen 1 had Pikachu/Raichu, Gen 2 had Pichu, Gen 3 Plusle/Minun, Gen 4 Pachirisu, and Gen 5 had Emolga, and we have Gerbohm (or possibly Zabble).

Gerbohm(from gerbil and ohm) or Zabble (from zap and nibble)
      (concept art coming soon)
      the light gerbil Pokemon
dex entry: Because of their cute appearance, Gerbohm are often kept as pets, however their powerful electrical abilities make this a questionable choice.
location: common fairly early in the game.
      Moves: Undecided
      Base Stats:
      HP: 50
      Attack: 55
      Defense: 50
      Sp. Attack: 65
      Sp. Defense: 95
      Speed: 90
      ability: pickup/static

      So...Any comments?

Does it evolve? Because those stats are downright pathetic.

Gerbohm? I don't think the name clicks. How about Zabble (Zap and nibble)?

The stats are bad... but we do have weak pokemon like luvdisc and you already said that they are kept as pets!

I wasn't planning on it, but I guess you're right. I based the stats off Pikachu without thinking. I should probably either give it an evo or revamp the stats based off of Plusle/Minun/Pachirisu/Emolga.

I don't know. Why don't we see what other people think. I'll edit both names into the first post.

Like I said, I'll try to revamp the stats.

I prefer Gerbohm. It can be Gerbil/ohm, and it can also be Jerboa/ohm.

Huh. I hadn't thought of the jerboa thing. But anyway, i tried a sprite! For those of you who hate bad spriting and have weak hearts, don't look at this, as it will disgust you!

Spoilers don't work very well on here. And sprites are supposed to be facing to the left, towards the other side of the battlefield.

And just as an idea, we don't have to make our rodent electric-type. Many believe that the "electric rodent" of the second generation was Marill due to its resemblance to Pikachu and since it's in a two-stage evolutionary line.

That's just bad because of a very simple reason: Marill isn't Electric.

Exactly DiZ that's what gelo is trying to say... It doesn't need to be electric cz second generation had marill and it was a water type!

No, that's not what I was saying. Marill isn't electric. The 'Electric rodent' is Pichu.

Every other electric rodent was introduced as an independent evolutionary line. Pichu was just added on to Pikachu and Raichu's line, whereas Marill and Azumarill constituted their own line. In fact, it was a two-stage line just like Pikachu's line when it was introduced. Furthermore, its line gained a baby pokemon in the generation after it was introduced; the same as Pikachu's line. There are plenty of similarities, so we can't truly say that either Marill or Pichu was the spiritual successor to Pikachu until the developers announce it for certain.

The bottom line, though, is that we can be a little creative when coming up with the type for our region's patron rodent.
