Champion idea

I have an idea for the champion of our game.

Because Ghost is my second favorite type, and Ice isn't that amazing in battle, I think our champion should primarily be a user of Ghost types. This doesn't mean that he uses only Ghosts, but his team will consist mostly of pure or part ghosts. Maybe three or four of his pokemon. And one of his pokemon is definitely going to be Flygon, as it is the site mascot so it would only be appropriate.

I think he should be names Fauntleroy, because for some reason it reminds me of ghosts. Maybe because it sounds like the word "haunted"?

Champions generally have a mixture of different types (exception being Gen. III). A mixture of types would also make it more challenging, though I would have no problem with a ghost type on their team.

Gen II also had Lance, who was primarily a Dragon user with a few other ones mixed in. Steven in gen III used mostly Steel, but also had Armaldo, Cradily, and Claydol. So our champion is also going to specialize in a type with some others mixed in. On top of that, Ghost is a good defensive type on its own, with few weaknesses, many resistances, and two immunities (not to mention some potential Levitate users)

Cool. I have a Normal/Ghost type idea that might be a good addition to his party.


Also, I think Cumulo (or it's evolution if you make one) should be in his/her party, seeing as it has no weaknesses.

to be frank, I don't really like this idea, primarely because I don't like ghost types (excluding Giratina Orign Form and Spirtomb) because my pokemon (and most others) have learned moves that allow them to frickn' plow through ghost types, and the only ghosts that gave me any trouble were Chandlure and Spirtomb (and my houndoom STILL plows through Spirtomb) my point is, I don't think He should have a mostly ghost team, A ghost type on on the team is fine by me, but not almost the whole team.

Not his entire team is going to be ghosts, probably just three of his pokemon, and even then most, if not all of his ghosts, will be dual-type. And if your team can easily beat ghosts, then I'm sure our champion will have some good counters to cover his weaknesses.

i had an idea when looking at Prof. Oak in Bulbapedia. It says that Oak was most likely going to be the Champion (obviously that was scrapped). But, I thought it would still be kind of cool to have our Champion be the Poke'mon Professor, instead of some random dude.


I was imagining before battle he would have a presentation somewhat like this:
*<Player> walks into room*
Prof. Acacia: "Greetings, <Player>! I bet you weren't expecting to see me here, eh?"
Prof. Acacia: "Please stop calling me that boy. I haven't felt this alive in years, nor do I feel like a Professor Acacia. Call me by my first name= Fauntelroy"
Fauntelroy: "My study of the Poke'mon afterlife has proven valuable for the training of my team. It was quite easy to beat the Four, they know I'm good, but I seem to still have a bit of the element of surprise in me. Kyehhehheh.."
Fauntelroy: "Now, prepare to have your loss haunt you for the rest of your life! Literally!"
Fauntelroy: "KYEHHEHHEHHEHHEHHEH"

His Prof. name doesn't have to be Acacia, I was just trying to stick to the Tree theme.

I actually quite like the name Acacia. And having the professor as the champion would make an amazing plot twist.

sense you like both ice and ghost types, why doesn't Fauntelroy have a Frosslass on his team. Sense their Ice/ Ghost types.

I don't really know about Froslass. While I really like it as a pokemon, I would rather give Fauntleroy pokemon that we've made up (excluding Flygon, since he's special)

And now that I think about it, I don't actually think that the professor should be champion... it seems kind of weird. Our champion should just be the normal kind who makes occasional appearances in the game.

Yes, i think Fauntleroy should have only (flygon being an exception) pkm created for this generation. However, i think king ddd's idea, to make the professor being the champion, was quite original and it would add a stricking point in the plot.

I've added the poll. I really don't have a preference anymore after I've thought about it a little, so you guys can decide.

I think the champion should have different types. You can give him a darker theme though, like with dark, ghost, and psychic types.

I've got an idea for the team:

Resonoir (If you accept it), because of one of the best defensive typings.
Cumulo for no weaknesses.
Polyphantm because it is Ghost and it is cool.
Flygon for Gelo.
A Fightning type or a Fight/Flying.(e.e)
And other Ghost Pokémon.

i know this is probably gonna get shot down but i seriously think the professor/champ should be a girl. since all of the gym leaders are being based off of member which of the ones of gotten so far are all guys and it would just be weird if the game was a total sausage fest

We already had a girl professor, and one is enough. Fauntleroy is obviously not a girl's name, and besides, the champion represents me. And I'm not a girl, in case you haven't noticed.

The second to last one will be Volcarona, since it's my second-favorite pokemon. Although, I'm not entirely sure, so it could still be changed.

well i mean we could change the name but your right i cant stand juniper. we have to at least have a gym leader and maybe the leader of team nova be girls tho

We can definitely have some girl gym leaders and elite four if we need to. And also Nova admins.

i agree that flygon should be the signature pokemon, but you should probably pick your favs from our generation to be the other 5 since we are trying to make our own game and use gamefreak stuff as little as possible

That's such a good idea. If I recall correctly, Steven from R/S only had one pokemon from a previous generation.
