Gen IV and V pokemon Empty Gen IV and V pokemon

    Post by Gelatino95 Sat Jun 04, 2011 1:02 pm

We'll be able to take Game Freak's sprites for any Gen III pokemon, since they'll already be the right size for the game. But we may want to include Gen IV or V pokemon in our game. In that case, we'll have to remake the sprites for those pokemon to Gen III specifications.

With that, are there any Gen IV or V pokemon you want to see in the game? Just say the word, and I or someone else will make a Gen III sprite for them.

I personally only want original Pokemon to be in this game, but I can't really see that happening with the small number of people working on this. On topic, I quite like Scraggy and Scrafty, and would quite like them in the game.

What's the difference between III and IV/V Gen sprites?
If we have to remake the sprites, then i think everyone should
    propose some of their favourites.

Gen IV and V sprites are slightly larger than Gen III sprites, and will therefore not be competible with the software. If we hope to use any of them, we'll have to remake their sprites to the Gen III specifications.

And Ferrety, we might be able to just include original pokemon if we had more people working on this. But we don't, and I don't think I'm allowed to advertise on a big forum like Smogon, so we're kind of stuck with what we have. On a separate note, I quite like Scraggy and Scrafty, so if you have any skill at spriting, then you can make their sprites if you like. Just go into a photo editing program, resize the sprite to the right pixel size, and clean it up.

As for me, most of my favorite pokemon are already third gen. But I would like to see some of the evolutions introduced in Diamond and Pearl, such as Dusknoir, Mamoswine, and the eeveelutions.

I can sprite a little (Shading, mainly), but I'll try it. I will, however, be using some TCG artwork as the base instead of the BW sprite (hopefully), so it looks less recognizable.

All right. I already started on Mamoswine, but I used the sprite. I don't really want to have to start over, so I'll finish it, but I'll do all the others with some other artwork.

That doesn't really matter too much, to be honest. I'm just doing mine this way for uniqueness. Also, remember it's 60x60! Just making sure...

EDIT: Going to sleep now. I leave you with the Lineart! Feel free to fill this in, it'd save me some work.

Actually, it's 64x64. But you were close. Gen III sprites are 64x64, Gen IV sprites are 80x80, and Gen V sprites are 96x96.

    Example:
Gen IV and V pokemon Spr_3r_356
    Gen III 64x64

Gen IV and V pokemon Spr_4d_356
    Gen IV 80x80

Gen IV and V pokemon Spr_5b_356
    Gen V 96x96

EDIT: poop, I actually do have to start over my Mamoswine anyway. I made it 80x80 by mistake.

All of them. I can sprite too, a little, so Between us it's only 100 or so each. Even only doing two or three a day, we'd manage it in under two months.

Hmm...I think one that we could use is the Solosis line. I think they would work well with the whole "Radon" thing. I don't know why, it just seems like it would work.

But sprites made for one size and then made smaller tend to be a bit ugly compared to completely original ones. I have yet to see a good-looking resized Gen. IV sprite.
