    New Move: Wing Beat

Post by Lyrebirdgirl on Tue Jul 05, 2011 5:11 pm

    Name: Wing Beat

    Base power: 100

    Accuracy: 85

    Physical or Special: Physical

    Type: Flying

Description: When a Pokemon uses this move, it slams both wings into the opponent. It has a 30% chance of making an opponent flinch the next turn.

    Feedback?

Coolio. This move will put fighting types in their place. It's about time we had a rather powerful Flying-type move without recoil. Nice idea you got there.

I'm not quite sure of having a base 100 move without some kind of drawback. You could tone it down to 95 to make it equal with Flamethrower and friends.

I don't know if 95 is going to make that much of a difference. Besides, this move is a nice parallel to Heat Wave, which also has 100 base power and 90 accuracy. And I have to say, it's really annoying when Heat Wave misses, so that's a drawback in and of itself.

Yeah, it makes me angry when it misses, and I figure such a strong move should have a lower accuracy.

But Heat Wave has that Burn rate. You could give Wing Beat a 20% Confusion rate or something to really parallel it.

Or, it can parallel Stone Edge instead and you can give it 80 accuracy.

I'm against this as Rock Types also have Rock Slide, a weaker but more reliable STAB while Wing Beat users will have to rely on Aerial Ace if Accuracy is an issue, and the 40% BP difference is rather noticable

90 accuracy sounds about right. I'd say 90 so it's like heat wave. But 30 percent flinch rate sounds kinda like too much. I'd say make it 20 percent.

Plenty of moves have 30% flinch rate, like Headbutt and Rock Slide. But it doesn't really matter. Do whatever you want.

I did REALLY want it to be 30%, I'll change it back.
