*Thinner than Volcarona, and maybe with a New Moon, Crescent Moon, or Full Moon on it's chest

Volcarona already has a sorta-counterpart in Hydreigon.

Hyderigon is more of a counterpart to the other pseudos due to having the same BST as them. This pokemon has the same BST as Volcarona

Hydreigon is a pseudo-legendary, in a completely different class from Volcarona. I think bug/ice would work well as a counterpart, and it can still be special-based like Volcarona.

True, but there are a lot of things suggesting it is a counterpart:

-One is light and the other is dark
-They're both before the legendaries in the dex (even though Volcarona isn't a Pseudo)
-One used by the most respectable trainer in Unova, the other used by the worst.
-Both have elements of mythological creatures in their designs, and also of Mothra and King Ghidorah (quite probably intentional).

^ Never saw those things. Pretty neat. However, I still think Volcarona could use a more obvious counterpart. Bug/Ice works great because ice is a natural counterpart to fire, but also gives it a 4x weakness to fire, asserting Volcarona's superiority in the duo. I can only imagine the legends that could go along with this.

I guess this could work. Why have the same base stats though if Volcarona is meant to be superior? Just to emphasize the similarities when the design should do that?

As volcarona is a sun pokemon... Making it fire type makes sense!
The counterpart is based of the moon... what does it make it ice type? Besides couterparts need to be equal and not making one superior to the other Bug/Ice will give it 4x weakness to fire while volcarona resists ice!

My Guess Bug/Dark or Bug/Psychic is better than Bug/Ice for a volcarona counterpart!

The ice typing is because of the moon being very cold.

    Heatmor and Durant?

The Sun is bigger and brighter than the Moon. Why wouldn't it be superior?

True, But what is the point in making a counterpart that can be easily countered by the other pokemon especially that the second can never do anything to volcarona cz it resists both bug and ice!

We need to be fair... Besides bug/dark or bug/psychic is new and very cool type combination that fits better with the moon theme!

Heatmor is supposed to be supperior cz it feeds on durants! Do you want to do the same thing with a volcarona like pokemon... And the sun-moon difference did not matter while making solrock and lunatone!

I like Bug/Ice. The sun is much larger and dangerous than the moon.

@Ferrety, O.O I never noticed that... despite how much I like Godzilla. However, to me a lot of the Pseudo-legendaries are kind of like Godzilla Kaiju. Metagross is an alien mech, like Gigan, Tyranitar is kind of like Godzilla, Garchomp very closely resembles Gyaos and Dragonite is an aquatic Dragon, similar to Manda. Most of these are probably unintentional, however...

Good idea giving it the exact same stats of volcarona... but If it was me, I'll lower the special DEF and higher the ATT so it can use good physical attacks that would normally be used on a bug such as megahorn and X-scissor. U-turn can also be handy since bug/ice has a lot of weaknesses! But this is your pokemon and I'm only suggesting.

Anyway I like it in general. As for the name I think "Chilloth" is good for Chill and moth!

Maybe the name of the second one could have the word selenic in it, since that's an adjective used when referring to the moon (synonymous with lunar)

Glacelino could be a good name. Vulcarona comes from vulcan(volcano) and carona (has to do with the sun...somehow...), so Glacelino could come from glacier and selinic.

^ Maybe change the second "i" to an "e" to stay consistent with the spelling of "selenic" and also so there aren't so many "i's" in a row.

In fact, maybe then it could be Lepilena so that its name parallels with the spelling of Volcarona? I personally prefer Lepilenic.

Lepiluna could also work. It's slightly less obscure and sounds a bit better in my opinion.
