Pokemon that have to go

So we are doing awesome. we have created 126 new pokemon and we are aiming to have about 150. unfortunely, in the game the pokedex can only hold so much entries, so we have to decide which pokemon from gens 1-4 have to be kept out to make room for ours.

i will start by nominating dunsparce, quilfish, kricketot, and kricketune. any objections to those?

I don't think this is how it works. We're going to decide which pokemon appear on each route as we make them, and we're not just going to rule out pokemon from the beginning.

Yeah I think you've got it the wrong way 'round. Add stuff that we need, not get rid of stuff we don't like. This method would just create more arguments and/or give us too many Pokemon to fit into the game.

i was just saying we would only have to rule out 150 or so. we would have to add over 300

Anyway, my thoughts are that the Dex should be R/S style, with a mixture of old and new Pokemon and 200 total entries.

That'll be a lot of work and I do mean, a lot of work. Anyways, this isn't really set in stone, it's my thoughts of what should be done. I don't know, maybe we are only going to have old stuff after the Elite 4?

I know. I was trying to say that we don't know yet whether we'll only have old stuff post-game or if we'd be able to find old stuff pre-game (but judging by Gelo's earlier comment, I'd assume it's the latter).

oh if we are including old pokemon in the main story then we shouldnt be deciding which ones to get rid of you're right. i thought new pokemon were just gonna be an after game bonus...

I absolutely loathed it when they made previous pokemon only accessible post-game in Unova. They didn't have enough room to fit a bunch of pokemon from other regions since they were all crammed in eastern Unova. I liked it more in the other games, like Hoenn and Sinnoh, where you could get a Machop or Geodude on your Ruby team, or you could have an awesome Scizor on your Pearl team (like I did)
