Ironiderm (Sea urchin poke'mon)

A poke'mon I came up with today:

Name: Ironiderm (Iron+Echinoderm)

These Poke'mon are full of poison gasses lighter than water. To keep themselves on the ocean floor they have evolved thick metal armor.
Found in any body of water=Dive is required (uncommon)

Looks awesome. I can imagine them looking like a naval mine of sorts. I was wondering when you were going to make a poison-type.

Does it evolve? the stats are low... It doesn't have good HP to benefit from the high defeses and doesn't have enough speed to be a sweeper.

It could be a steel/poison type with high defenses who evolves into a water/poison type with good defenses and high Attack... Just an idea though...

Water/Poison doesn't have the 4x weakness to ground!

Ironiderm can evolve to Echinarmor using the water stone.

The description makes it seem like a metel blob. I'd like to see some concept art. These stats are really horrible, even for a pokemon that doesn't evolve. Seems like a less useful quilfish...

Not all pokemon have to be amazing, you know. Some of them are just thrown in for filler so that people can use them if they really like them, or so people have trouble when they battle them in the game.

I personally think this pokemon is fine as a standalone pokemon if you want to keep it that way.

I imagined it as a standalone Poke'mon. But if there is an evolution, I'd prefer if it stayed Poison/Steel (there are already a lot of Water/Poison types, no offense).


As for the stats, you can make better ones if you like, but as Gelo said, not all Poke'mon have to have great stats.


Metal Blob? It's gases are contained in a thorny metal armor. Nevertheless, you can't really make an urchin Pok'mon that doesn't look like a blob, anyway.

You remember the sunk sumbarine in 'Finding Nemo'? The evolution can be like that, but resembling a mine. Or can be like a atomic bomb that falled on the sea. Or a chain of bombs.

As for stats:

Can you swap Sp. Atk and Sp. Def? Because Sp. Def is supposed to be it's highest stat. If you want it have high Sp. Atk, since it's like a mine, you could sacrifice some Atk. or Def. I guess.

I don't quite get what you're saying but...

The spikes should probably be orange-brown, since it's the "Brass Urchin" pokemon.

We should probably call it Brassiderm if it isn't iron.

Iron sounds kind of like Echino, that's why I picked it.

Thinking about it, we could call it the Iron Urchin Pokemon and the name could be Fuegoderm, Fuego being what they used to call Iron, hence being Fe in the Periodic table (I think. Don't quote me on that.)
